The MDCAT is a 180-question, three-hour paper across five subjects. Before you open a single book, it pays to know how those 180 questions are split and which topics each subject actually tests, because that is what a sane study plan is built on.

MDCAT exam format at a glance
One paper, 180 multiple-choice questions, three hours. That works out to about a minute per question. Every one of them comes from one of five subjects, weighted like this:

That score then makes up around half of your admission aggregate (commonly 50% MDCAT, 40% FSC, 10% Matric, though it does shift by university and year). The aggregate calculator will tell you the exact score your target university needs.
